Hanita Window Film Division Introduces New High Performance Films for Plastic Glazing
Date: 06/05/2007
Hanita, Israel. May 2007.
Hanita Coatings, specialists in the manufacture of solar control and safety window films, recently launched a new range of polyester films specifically developed for installation on plastic glazing. Designed for use on polycarbonate or PMMA, Hanita’s new PolyZone range of high performance films provide see-through solar control, retaining light and view whilst controlling heat buildup and glare.
“Developing films suitable for application to polycarbonate proved to be quite a challenge, since regular window film adhesive forms blisters and bubbles when applied to plastic substrates,” comments Yochi Solna, head of Hanita’s Window Film Division. “We didn’t want to compromise our SolarZone window film line with the PVC base film our competitors have been using, since metallized PVC lacks the transparency of polyester. We had to invest many R&D months fine-tuning the film and adhesive before launching our PolyZone Silver 20 and Clear 4 mil films for PC and PMMA.”
Hanita’s Silver film for plastic glazing tackles the heat build up and glare that can make conservatories, atriums and enclosed pool areas unbearable. Traditional solutions of unsightly shades or blinds do little to reduce temperatures, and, like PVC films, block the view. Hanita’s new PolyZone Silver 20 window film transforms polycarbonate or acrylic glazed areas by helping to control overheating and dazzle, whilst preserving the interior transparency of the glazing. Thanks to a special scratch resistant coating suitable for external installation, the film cleans easily, without damaging the substrate.
Since polycarbonate is so easily scratched, either accidentally, when cleaned, or at the hands of a graphic vandal, Hanita also offers PolyZone 4-mil Clear SR film for interior application. The film provides the protection to help keep PC and acrylic as good as the day installed, whilst the scratch resistant coating shrugs off most graffiti spray, paint and pen, wiping clean with basic cleaning materials. Removing and replacing scratched or scuffed film is simple—any adhesive residue rubs off without damaging the plastic. This makes Hanita’s PolyZone Clear film ideal for installation in public areas such as stadiums, bus shelters or walkways, or for application on safety guards, revolving doors or teller windows.
